Matt Griggs

Matt Griggs joined Clay Nunley's staff in April of 2016 and in August of 2019 was promoted to Assocaite Head Coach. 

Griggs is starting his fourth year on the bench with RC Head Coach Clay Nunley and during his tenure with the program the Maroons have amassed 54 wins. Last season the Maroons won 19 games and finished No. 6 in the final NCAA South Regional rankings.

In 2017-18, Griggs assisted Nunley in guiding the Maroons to the 20 win mark for the first time since 2000-01. RC earned the second-seed in the ODAC Tournament and advanced to the championship game for the first time since 2007.

Griggs spent three seasons on Pat Kelsey's staff at Winthrop. No stranger to Division III athletics, Griggs is a 2013 graduate of Centre College in Danville, KY where he earned a bachelor's degree in education. The Cincinnati, OH native was a member of the men's basketball team and appeared in 108 consecutive games as well as being the team captain and a three-time conference academic honor roll member. In his four years at Centre, Griggs and his team won three conference championships and participated in the NCAA Division III national tournament three times as well.
