Salem Memorial Ballpark - Lewis-Gale Field

The Roanoke College baseball team will now call Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark its home for the second consecutive year.  Athletic Director Scott Allison and head baseball coach Matt McGuire are excited about the College's continued partnership with the Class-A Salem Red Sox organization for the 2016 season.

The stadium was built in 1995 and took around $10 million to build with a capacity of 6,300 fans. The ballpark has been home to the Salem Avalanche (1995-2008) and most recently the Salem Red Sox (2009-present). The formerly named Lewis-Gale Field, has also hosted the ACC Tournament in 2003 and 2004. Lastly, the stadium actually served as the home of the DIII National Baseball Championships from 1996-1999 seasons.

The Maroons have occasionally played there in years past, but are now able to call the stadium their home ballpark. This includes the Roanoke College baseball team having full access to the stadium’s weight room, home locker room, batting cages, and other amenities.  In their first season (2015) at the facility, the baseball team saw great success by compiling a record of 11-6 while playing at Salem Memorial Stadium. They also captured the first winning season in the program’s history and were also able to achieve the program’s first tournament win as well.
