Sean Guida Named ODAC Player of the Year; Salva Earns Top Rookie as Maroons Place Four on All-ODAC Squad

Forest, Va. – The Roanoke Baseball Team placed four standouts on the All-ODAC team, including Sean Guida who was named ODAC Player of the Year and Will Salva who was named Rookie of the Year, becoming the first players in program history to earn those awards.

Guida was joined on the first-team by third baseman Jack Howard. Salva was named the DH on the second-team and reliever Sal Trancucci was a third-team selection.

Guida has put together a stellar campaign as he and the Maroons continue their defense of the 2017 ODAC title. Entering the final tournament weekend, Guida leads the ODAC in overall batting average (.417), slugging percentage (.737), runs (54), hits (65), triples (7), and total bases (115). He is third with 15 doubles and a .521 on-base percentage and fifth with seven homers and 29 walks. Against ODAC foes, Guida led the league in hits (35), triples (3), and total bases (65) while placing second in slugging (.783), doubles (9), and homers (5), third in runs (25) and RBI (23), and fourth in batting (.422) and OBP (.515). Guida has hit safely in 35-of-38 games. He had a 31-game hitting streak during the middle of the season.

Salva registered the majority of his power numbers at the dish against league opponents. He racked up 23 of his 37 RBI against ODAC foes, ranking third and eighth in the ODAC. He collected four of his nine doubles and four of his five homers against league competition. Salva enters the ODAC tournament with a .344/.389/.527 overall slash line. He opened the season with a 20-game hitting streak that included 10 multi-hit games.

Howard is hitting at a .357 clip and has driven in 34 runners which both rank 14th best in the league, while his .468 on-base percentage is seventh highest in the ODAC. Howard has 50 hits on the season, including 12 doubles.

Trancucci has made 19 appearances out of the Maroon bullpen this season. He has one win and three saves after logging 22 innings on the mound. He has a 1.23 ERA on the season and has struck out 22 batters on the season.
