The Lead: Evan Parks tossed a complete game, four hit shutout to lead Roanoke to a 6-0 victory over Elizabethtown in game one of Saturday's doubleheader.

How it Happened

  • Will Merriken reached on an error to start the second inning and moved to second on a wild pitch. Sam Watson singled to put runners on first and third. Will Salva doubled to score Merriken and send Watson to third.
  • After a walk to Gavin Kandrick loaded the bases, Jeb Byerley delivered a sacrifice fly to score Watson and make it 2-0.
  • Conner Butler then had a two-out RBI single that plated both Salva and Kandrick to make it a 4-0 game.
  • In the Roanoke third inning, Watson singled with one out and came home to score on a Salva homerun that put RC out in front 6-0.
  • That would prove to be all Parks (1-0) needed as he allowed just four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out seven to earn his second win of the year. Watson and Salva each had two hits, while Salva had three RBI.
  • Eric Sipling took the loss for E-Town after going three innings and giving up six runs.

The Lead:  Elizabethtown earned a split of the doubleheader with a 9-0 win over Roanoke in game two.

How it Happened

  • Elizabethtown scored all the runs its would need in the second inning when it strung together six hits to score five runs and capitalized on an RC error to go up 5-0.
  • A Riley McGinley RBI groundout and a wild pitch that scored Ben Watson in the fourth inning pushed the lead to 7-0 for the Blue Jays.
  • E-Town tacked on unearned runs in the fifth and seventh innings to account for its final two runs.
  • Joseph Sarich went the first six innings and did not give up a run, while striking out five to pick up the win on the mound.
  • Ben Watson, Andrew Fisher and Tyler McGonigle each had two hits for the Blue Jays.
  • Tanner James took the loss for RC after giving up five runs in 1.2 innings of work. Carter Plunkett finished with two hits for Roanoke.

Up Next: Roanoke is back in action on Saturday against (R/V) Marietta at the Baltimore Invitational at 9:30 a.m. The Maroons will then face No. 7 Cortland at 12:45 p.m.
