Field Hockey Falls to #6 Lynchburg in ODAC Competition
SALEM - The Roanoke Field Hockey team lost in ODAC action to #6 ranked Lynchburg College, 10-0 on Thursday.  The Maroons fall to 2-6, 1-1 ODAC while the Hornets move up to 8-1, 2-0 in ODAC competition.

Roanoke held off Lynchburg early on defense, knocking away multiple shot opportunites.  At the nine minute mark, the Hornets stuck when Deanna Smith found the back of the cage off a pass from Kelli Williams.  Lynchburg would score three more in the second half off the stick of Lindsay Leonard who picked up her third goal of the hat-trick in the 30th minute.

In the second half, the Hornets did not let up as they scored six more goals.  Leonard picked another goal to total four for the game.  Goals in the second half were scored by Smith, Ashley Vogan, Shelly Milks, Kelsey Link, and Megan Tillou.

Lee Sheldon (Darien, CT, Darien) led the team with three shots, two of which were on goal.  Cristina Scichilone (South Yarmouth, MA, Nauset Regional) played the full 70 minutes and stopped 11 shots.

The Maroons will return to action Saturday, Oct. 1, as they play host to Shenandoah at Donald J. Kerr Stadium.  The contest is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
