Roanoke College assistant field hockey coach Kelani Lawrence returned to the states after representing the US at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru. Lawrence didn't return empty handed as the national ranked racquetball player earned a pair of bronze medals during the 19 day event.

The racquetball competition consisted of over 60 athletes, representing 14 countries. Lawrence competed in the women's singles, doubles, and team competition.

In singles play, Lawrence reached the finals draw after coming out of Pool F. In the round of 16, Kelani defeated Carla Munoz (Chile) 2-0 to reach the quarterfinals. In the quarters, Lawrence fell, 0-2, to Maria Jose Vargas of Argentina while Vargas would go on to play in the gold medal match.

Lawrence and partner Rhonda Rajsich would come out of Doubles Pool A into the Championship bracket. The duo would win their quarterfinal match, 2-0, over Bolivia before falling to the eventual champion, Mexico in the semifinals. By reaching the semis, Lawrence and Rajsich would each receive a bronze medal in the Doubles draw.

The final completion would be the team event. Each competition would consist of a pair of singles matches surrounding a doubles match. Lawrence and Rajsich would again represent the United States and once again earn a bronze medal for their efforts. A 2-0 win over the team from Columbia would move the US team into the semifinals. In their semifinal matchup, Lawrence and Rajisch would face the team from Mexico that boasted both the singles and doubles champions. Lawrence fell to singles gold medalist Paola Longoria in the opener and team Mexico would take the doubles match, eliminating the US. Despite the loss, Lawrence secured her second bronze medal of the 2019 Pan American Games.
