SALEM, Va. – Roanoke College's Lauren Heffron has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week.
Heffron, a junior from Glen Allen, Va., helped the Maroons to a 2-1 week to improve to 4-2 on the season with one more week of non-conference action before getting into ODAC play. Heffron registered at least one goal in each contest. She tallied the opening goal in a 2-1 overtime victory over NCAA Division II member Belmont Abbey. Then Heffron registered the game-tying goal in the third quarter to send a contest with Centre into overtime. The Colonels eventually won the outing, 3-2, with a 64th-minute goal. Heffron wasn't done lighting up Kerr Stadium's scoreboard as she assisted on the game-tying goal by Katie Martin and then put the game away with the contest's final goal just before the end of the third period in a 3-1 triumph over Transylvania. Heffron currently has 10 points on the season with four goals and two assists.
Roanoke is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Wilson at 7:00 p.m.
