The Lead: Washington and Lee scored a 70-64 ODAC Men's Basketball win over Roanoke Wednesday evening in Lexington, Va.
How it Happened
- Washington and Lee drained 10 first-half three-pointers, including four trifectas in the final four minutes which sent W&L to the break leading 40-28.
- Roanoke came out in the second-half and scored the first six points, cutting the Generals lead to 40-34 on an Ethan Rohan layup.
- Washington and Lee would push its lead back to 10 at 44-34 before RC would string together an 11-3 run, making it a 47-45 game after two Efosa Edosomwan free-throws with just under 10 minutes to go in the game.
- W&L led 55-46 with seven minutes to go in the game. RC scored nine of the next 12 points, pulling to within three when a Caleb Jordan bucket made it 58-55 with four minutes to go.
- With the Generals leading 65-59 with 1:49 to go, a Dillon Thomas three-pointer and two free-throws by Jordan made it a 65-64 contest with 39 seconds to play.
- That would be as close as RC would get as William Brueggeman converted a three-point play on W&L's ensuing possession to stretch the lead back to four with 22 seconds left.
- Jordan led Roanoke with 20 points on the night. Edosomwan finished with 15 points and Thomas had seven.
- RC shot 50% for the night, making 26-of-52 shots from the floor. W&L was 23-of-50 (46%) from the field, including 13 three-pointers.
- W&L was led by Brueggeman who finished with seven three-pointers on his way to a game-high 28 points for the Generals. Mark Lamendola had 12 points, while Kevin Dennin chipped in with 10.
