The Lead: After picking up an overtime, road, win on Wednesday the Roanoke men's basketball team welcomed Randolph College to the Cregger Center. Roanoke legend Frankie Allen was on hand and honored at halftime as the big crowd was treated to a hot start by the Maroons. RC scored the first six points of the afternoon and raced out to a double-digit lead less than 10-minutes into the game. A 16-point halftime lead would grow to as big as 32 as Roanoke won their fifth straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game, 79-51.

How it Happened:

  • Efosa U-Edosomwan converted a three-point play and Nick Price buried his first of a pair of three-pointers as Roanoke raced out to a 6-0 advantage.  
  • A U-Edosomwan jumper with 12:45 on the clock would push the lead into double-digits. Tripp Greene made a jump shot to give RC their largest lead of the first half, 18-points.
  • Nine different Maroons scored during the first half as the home team took a 39-23 lead into the break.
  • Seven minutes into the second half, U-Edosomwan pushed the lead to 54-34 with a jump shot. At the 7:04 mark, Greene drilled a three to make it a 73-42, Roanoke College lead.
  • With a minute left to play, Hayden James scored to give the Maroons their largest lead of the evening as Roanoke would take the ODAC win, 79-51, running their current win streak to five.
  • U-Edosomwan led a balanced attack with 18 points with Kasey Draper (12) and Greene (10) giving Roanoke three players in double figures. 11 different Maroons would score as no one played more the 27 minutes for the game. Roanoke won the battle on the boards, 45-35, while recording 28 bench points.  

Up next: The Maroons will play a trio of road games next week with the first stop coming on Monday afternoon in Virginia Beach against Va. Wesleyan at 5:00pm.
