The Basics:

Finish: Roanoke College finished 22nd at the O'Briant-Jensen (OBJ) Memorial Tournament hosted by Guilford.
Results: Day One - 338 | Day Two - 321
Location: Greensboro, N.C.

The Lead: The Roanoke College golf team played their final fall tournament of 2019 when they traveled to Greensboro for the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial hosted by Guilford College. The Maroons finished 22nd in a field that included 12 of the top 30 teams in the nation.

How it Happened:

  • Day one would see RC post a team score of 338. Nicholas Peters and Owen Grayson paced Roanoke with an 82 and 83 respectively.
  • Starting on the 10th hole, the Maroons got off to a solid start and going into the turn, held an advantage over Washington and Lee, the nations 11th ranked team. However, the long day (over a six hour round) coupled with the long, narrow fairways proved a tough task.
  • On the second day of play, the Maroons would best their opening day by 17 strokes and each of the five golfers would improve their final scores.
  • Freshman Will Clary and Peters would each post seven over par 78's to lead the comeback.

Up next: Roanoke will resume their season in the spring when they travel to Lynchburg to play in the Hill Cuity Invitational in early March.
