Five Maroons Named VaSID All-State; Sarro Rookie of the Year

Salem, Va. – Five Roanoke College Maroon Men's Lacrosse standouts have been named to 2017 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Team, including Jason Sarro who was named rookie of the year.

IV Stucker and Conn Curry were named first-team all-state, while Sarro, Kevin Jackson and Chad Fisher were all second-team selections.

Sarro, a freshman from Baltimore, Md., had a tremendous rookie year with the Maroons.  He found the back of the net 40 times on the year and assisted on 23 more tallies.  Those totals were good for 11th and ninth in the ODAC.  The 63 overall points placed him sixth in the conference.  Sarro earned First-Team All-ODAC and ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades, and was named an Honorable Mention All-American.

Curry was a Second-Team All-American and First-Team All-ODAC this season. He had the second most caused turnovers in the ODAC with 37, while his 55 groundballs was 13th highest.

Stucker was a Third-Team All-American and First-Team All-ODAC. He had 51 points which was 17th best in the league. He scored 29 goals, while his 22 assists was 11th best in the ODAC.

Jackson capped his career with his third USILA All-American honor and a spot on the All-ODAC First-Team. He finished with 51 points on 25 goals and 26 assists on the season. For his career, he is just one of 14 players in RC history with over 200 points, notching 121 goals and 83 assists for 204 points. He was also selected to the prestigious North-South All Star Game. 

Fisher who had the fourth most ground balls in the league with 72, also caused 10 turnovers and won 76 face-offs at a 61% clip for the Maroons. He was named an Honorable Mention All-American and Roanoke's Male Athlete of the Year.
