Location: Lexington, Va.
The Lead: Roanoke College took their 2-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) record on the road to Lexington to face Washington and Lee. The game would be tied, 3-3, at the half. The Generals used a 7-3 third frame to pull away and hold on for the 11-8 win.
How it Happened:
- Wyatt Whitlow scored off a feed from Luke Kammerman to start the afternoon. After a pair of General scores, Ethan Caldwell netted the equalizer to make it a 2-2 game after one period of play.
- Luca Docking gave Roanoke a lead in the opening minutes of a second quarter that would see each team score and send the game into the half tied at 3-3.
- The home team would race out to a 7-3 advantage by scoring four unanswered goals to start the second half. Whitlow and George Gilbert cut the deficit in half mid-way through the third quarter but W&L answered with back-to-back tallies and the lead was back to four. Gilbert found Whitlow but the Maroons would trail, 10-6, after three periods of play.
- Whitlow from Kammerman and Gilbert from Docking would once again make it a two-score affair, 10-8. However, the Generals would hold Roanoke scoreless the final six plus minutes of play and hold on for the 11-8, ODAC, win.
- Whitlow scored four times with Gilbert adding a pair of goals. Kammerman added two more assists. In goal, Taylor Lewis recorded 18 saves while facing 29 shots on the afternoon.
