Roanoke Tops Maryville 1-0 in Men's Soccer

The Lead: Alec Taitague's goal in the 62nd minute helped lift Roanoke to a 1-0 win over Maryville on Sunday afternoon in the final day of the All Sports Café / Roanoke Invitational.

How it Happened:

  • With the game scoreless in the 62nd minute, Dylan Berk served a ball into the box that was headed home by Taitague and give RC what would prove to be the game-winner.
  • The Scots would take the ensuing kickoff and attack the Maroons but Jace Burchfiel's shot was turned away by Zach Behe to preserve the RC lead.
  • Maryville was awarded a free-kick deep in the Roanoke zone in the 90th minute but the Maroon defense was able to block the shot attempt and go onto the win.
  • Roanoke held an 11-7 edge in shots and led in corner kicks 3-2.
  • Behe finished with three saves, while Luke Semann had four for MC.
