The Lead: Roanoke and Lynchburg battled to a scoreless tie Saturday night in Salem in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams.

How it Happened

  • The best chance of the first half came in the 38th minute when Joey Daley headed a ball right in front of the net but RC keeper Zach Behe was able to make the save.
  • With the score 0-0 in the 66th minute, Roanoke's Liam Camilleri was able to get a shot past Lynchburg keeper Kyle Gallagher who was drawn out, but his shot was volleyed off the goal line by a Hornet defender.
  • The match would be scoreless through the remainder of regulation and into overtime where Roanoke got the best scoring chance of the game came just three minutes in, Dylan Berk had a point blank shot that was saved by Gallagher then Berk's rebound attempt hit the cross-bar.
  • RC held a slim 20-19 lead in shots and 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
  • Behe had five saves, while Gallagher stopped seven shots.
