RC Men's Tennis Takes Part in R-MC Fall Invite

SALEM, Va. -- The Roanoke College Men's tennis team traveled to Randolph-Macon this past weekend for their invitational fall event.  The participating schools were Methodist University, Bridgewater College, Randolph-Macon and Roanoke. The format of the event was individual pro set matches in both singles and doubles. 

On Friday the team played doubles matches against Methodist and Randolph-Macon. The highlight match on Friday was the win by Jack Doriss and Jack Fishwick against the number one team from Randolph-Macon. The Maroon duo faced two match points and came back to win in an exciting tiebreaker under the lights. 

On Saturday, the Maroons played Methodist and  Bridgewater in singles. Mike Morrell lost a hard fought match against Bridgewater's number four player.  In doubles, Morell and Thomas Hodges lost a well played match to Bridgewater's number two team.  Jimmy Shifflett teamed with a Randolph–Macon player to win against the number three team from Bridgewater. 

Grayson White and Fishwick will be in action next weekend in the ITA tournament at Mary Washington which hosts the top southeast Division 3 tennis players in a three day tournament.
