The Lead: Both the Roanoke College Men's and Women's Cross-Country Teams opened the 2019 with first-place finishes at the Golden Bear Classic.
Men Highlights
- Chamberlin Zulauf was the top finisher for the Maroons with a time of 13:07.9 which was good for third overall.
- Peter Smith came in fifth with a time of 13:21.1, while Nathaniel Willis finished in eighth-place with a time of 13:27.7.
- Additionally, Tyler Barret clocked a time of 13:37.9 to finish 12th. Josh Fretwell was 14th with a time of 13:38.8 and Cooper Neeble was 15, crossing the finish line in 13:42.9.
- RC took the team title with 40 points, 15 more than host WVU Tech.
Women Highlights
- Emma Maras was the top finisher for Roanoke as she placed second overall with a time of 16:34.9 overall.
- Hannah Koepfinger (17:02.9) and Lauren Brown (17:05.4) finished sixth and seventh overall, respectively to help pace the Maroons to the win.
- Ashley Brown finished 14th with a time of 17:56.0 and Abbey Packard was 18th overall with a time of 18:46.4.
- Roanoke scored 38 points to top host WVU Tech by three.
