Game 1
Score: Southern Virginia 8, Roanoke 6
Records: Roanoke 10-8, Southern Virginia 5-16
Location: Buena Vista, Va. 

The Lead: Southern Virginia hit a walk-off home run to take game one 8-6.

How it Happened:

  • Mykayla Johnson hit the walk-off home run to give the Knights the win.
  • The Knights scored two runs each in the first three innings to take a 6-0 lead, highlighted by a 2 RBI triple by T. Hilton in the bottom of the first and a two-run homer from H. Terranova in the bottom of the second.
  • Allison Wagner hit a two-out double to left field to score Isabella Bennett and Rebecca Hensley singled to center to score Wagner and make it 6-3.
  • In the top of the fifth, Anna Clowdis hit a two-run home run to make it 6-4. Kate Priester hit a double to left before Priester scored on a passed ball to make it 6-6.
  • Priester was 2-for-3 and Clowdis was 2-for-4 for the Maroons.

Score: Southern Virginia 7, Roanoke 3
Records: Roanoke 10-9, Southern Virginia 6-16
Location: Buena Vista, Va. 

The Lead: Roanoke fell 7-3 in the second game against SVU

How it Happened:

  • SVU scored four runs off six hits in the bottom of the second highlighted by a double from Bethanie Hudson and Caitlin Barber to make it 4-0.
  • With the score 4-1, Roanoke rallied for one run with a leadoff double from Riley Croghan before Shanan Hester drove her in with an infield single.
  • The Maroons scored two more runs in the top of the seventh as Elizabeth Rathbone scored on a wild pitch and Scarlett Sisson hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-3.
  • Hester was 2-for-2 and Rathbone was 2-for-2 in game two.
