The Basics
Game 1
Score: Guilford 8, Roanoke 3
Records: Roanoke 15-13, 5-6 ODAC | Guilford 19-7, 5-6 ODAC
Location: Greensboro, N.C.
The Lead: Guilford topped Roanoke 8-3 in game one of the conference doubleheader on Saturday.
How it Happened:
- After a scoreless first inning, Guilford used a single and a double to start the bottom of the second before scoring on a fielder's choice to make it 1-0.
- Guilford added two more runs in the third, highlighted by a triple from Natalie Conrad.
- The Quakers strung together three straight singles to score three more runs in the fourth and take a 6-0 lead.
- Roanoke rallied for three runs in the top of the fifth off back-to-back doubles from Shanan Hester and Meagan Evans to close the gap to 6-3.
- Rebecca Hensley, Hester and Evans were all 2-for-4 for the Maroons.
Game 2
Score: Guilford 14, Roanoke 6 ( 6 innings)
Records: Roanoke 15-14, 5-7 ODAC | Guilford 20-7, 6-6 ODAC
Location: Greensboro, N.C.
The Lead: Guilford scored five runs in the first and the sixth inning to take game two 14-6.
How it Happened:
- Guilford scored five runs, with two coming from a two-run homer from Casey Bunting, in the top of the first.
- With the score 7-0 in the top of the fourth, Roanoke score five runs off six hits, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Brooke Trapuzzano to close the gap to 7-5.
- Trapuzzano hit a two-out double in the top of the sixth, scoring Rebecca Hensley to make it a 9-6 GC.
- Guilford added six runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win, with a three-run home run from Savannah Yale, a double from Sarah Aukamp and a single from Bunting.
- Trapunzzano went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Anna Clowdis was 2-for-3.
