The Basics

Records: Maroons 5-2, Pacers 11-4

The Lead: The Maroons shut out the Pacers in both games with a total of 17 hits on the day. In the first game of the day the Pacers were able to prevent the Maroons from scoring until the top of the fourth where the Maroons jumped ahead 2-0. Games two started off similar to game one but the Maroons were able to take the lead in the third. The Maroons were able to hold the lead to finish with a 6-0 victory against the Pacers.

Highlights:

  • After three scoreless innings Meri Bostic lead the fourth off with a single to left field. Adriana Rivera reached first on and error by the Pacers which allowed Bostic to advance to third. With runners on first and third Rivera stole second drawing the throw which allowed Bostic to score. Madison Courts hit a single to the shortstop which allowed for Rivera to score bringing the lead for the Maroons to 2-0.
  • Serenity Bishop lead off the sixth inning with a single to left center. Courts followed with a hard hit into left field that put runners into scoring position. Lilly Burns hit a base clearing double to bring in two more runs for the Maroons.

Highlights:

  • With both teams scoreless through two full inning Katelyn Craghead lead the top of the third off the with a single to center field. Morgan Clark was able to reach first on an error by the center fielded which also allowed for Craghead to advance. Bostic laid down a bunt that moved Clark and Craghead into scoring position. Rivera hit a deep fly ball into left field that allowed for Craghead to score.
  • Lauren Hoffman lead the fourth inning off with a double to center field. Makayla Austin followed with a single to center scoring Hoffman.
  • After two scoreless innings Burns lead the inning off with a walk which was followed by a double by Austin into left field to put runners in scoring position. Molly Epperson had a pinch hit double to center which scored Burns and Lauryn Chappell who pinch ran for Austin. Bostic double into right field scoring Clark.
  • Rachel Sirbaugh lead off the seventh inning with a hard single back to the pitcher and then advanced to second off an error by the first basewoman. Sirbaugh was able to take third on a wild pitch. Carlie Patterson ripped a double down the left field line scoring Sirbaugh.
  • Lindsay Gedro ended the day with six strikeouts against the Pacers
