The Lead: Kristina Harrel scored a game-high 21 points as Roanoke topped Methodist 78-33 Sunday afternoon in Salem.
How it Happened
- Harrel was one of three Maroons in double-figures. Ayanna Scarborough scored 16 points and Ajah Alexander added 10.
- The Maroons shot 37.0% for the game, making 30-of-81 shots. RC held a 59-37 edge on the glass thanks to a game-high eight boards from Harrel. Eight different Maroons had at least six rebounds in the win.
- Methodist turned the ball over 29 times on the day. Harrel and Scarborough each three steals for RC.
- Roanoke scored the first nine points of the game with an Alexander bucket with 5:28 left to go in the first quarter making it 9-0.
- RC led 15-10 after the first quarter of play and opened the second stanza with a 20-3 run, moving ahead 35-10 following two free-throws from Jayla Faison.
- With the score 38-18 in the third quarter, Roanoke went on a 13-2 run, taking a 51-20 lead on a Scarborough basket with 3:18 to go.
- The Maroons lead would reach as much as 50 late in the fourth quarter.
- Tyzarea Alexander led Methodist with nine points, while Kadie Snipes added seven.
