How it Happened

  • Both teams struggled offensively in the opening quarter with Masani Francis converting a steal into a fast break bucket to make it a 11-9 game in favor of the Scots after the first 10 minutes.
  • In the second quarter, Sayre Brandstatter made a free-throw to give RC a 20-19 lead with five minutes remaining in the half.
  • A three-pointer by Kylie Orr just over a minute later sparked what would prove to be a 13-6 spurt for the Scots to close the half as they would take a 32-26 lead into the intermission.
  • Roanoke came out of the locker room and scored the first eight points of the second-half to push ahead 34-32.
  • The game remained close throughout the third quarter with the Scots holding a 48-44 lead with under a minute to play before back-to-back baskets by Harrel pulled the Maroons even heading into the final quarter.
  • Roanoke held a 60-59 lead with five minutes left in the game when it was able to string together eight consecutive points, taking a 68-59 lead following a pair of free-throws from Renee Alquiza with 2:15 to play.
  • Wooster was able to cut the RC lead to five with under a minute to play but RC knocked down 8-of-10 free-throws down the stretch to seal the win.
  • Whitney Hopson had 16 points and Brandstatter finished with 11 to join Harrel in double-digits. Hopson finished with a team-high seven rebounds, while Harrel snared five boards in the win.
  • Roanoke shot 45.9% for the game, making 28-of-61 shots. Wooster made 23-of-69 (33.3%) shots from the field in the loss. RC was able to turn 30 Wooster turnovers into 25 points.
