The Basics

Records: Maroons 1-1 | Cougars 0-2

The Lead: The RC women used a 42-6 shot advantage to pick up the road win over Averett, evening their record at 1-1 on the early season.

How it Happened:

  • The Maroons wasted little time in taking control of the non-conference match up. Lilly Blair and Ellie Armstrong netted goals in the opening minute of play.
  • Jenna Kuczo and Molly Kasemeyer got on the board and after another Armstrong tally, the score was 5-0 in favor of Roanoke.
  • Over the next eight minutes of play, Blair would all but put the game away with five unanswered goals, doubling the RC advantage.
  • After two more Roanoke scores, Averett got on the board with a Courtney DeLone, unassisted, goal.
  • Riley Chase and Emerson Foster each scored for the second time during the first half and after Blair converted a free position shot, the Maroons went into the break with a 15-2 edge.
  • Foster got the scoring started in the second half with third score on Kasemeyer's third helper of the game.
  • The second 30 minutes would see Roanoke continue to dominate as Ashley Colaiacovo combined with Armstrong, Blair, and Foster to add 10 more goals to the final tally.
  • Blair scored 10 goals on her 11 shots on net. Armstrong added six scores, Foster had four goals, and Kasemeyer handed out five assists.
  • Carly Schoudel got the win as she and Hallie Redding split time in net, recording one save on their five faced shots.
