Women's Lacrosse Begins Road Swing With Win

The Lead: The Roanoke women's lacrosse team traveled to Southern Virginia to open a three-game road swing. The Knights would score first but nine unanswered Roanoke scores would give the Maroons a lead that they would hold throughout as the cruised to the 20-8 win.  

How it Happened:

  • SVU scored two and a half minutes in to give the home team the 1-0 lead.
  • Roanoke would storm back, netting nine consecutive goals. Two apiece for Emerson Foster, Ellie Armstrong, Lilly Blair, Jenna Kuczo and one by Morgan Saylor.
  • Hannah Davis scored her second for the Knights before another Maroons run, this time five straight.
  • At the half RC had built a 15-3 advantage.
  • Roanoke would ease up in the second half, adding five more scores for the 20-8 final.
  • Kuczo, Blair, and Saylor all scored four goals with Foster and Armstrong adding three each.
  • Carly Schoudel anchored the defense for the first half before being relieved by Kyleigh Chickering for the final 23 minutes. The two goalies combined for eight saves.
  • Clare Kuczo caused a pair of turnovers and Riley Chase secured five draws.
