The Lead: The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team welcomed Randolph-Macon to Kerr Stadium on Saturday afternoon. the matchup with the Yellow Jackets came on the heels of a big road win at Lynchburg, in which Roanoke secured the number two spot in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (OADC) standings. RC scored the first three, and 11 of the first 13, goals on the afternoon on their way to another ODAC win, 20-8.

How it Happened:

  • Before the opening draw, Roanoke took a moment to honor her four seniors: Jenna Kuczo, Frances Sefcik, Ellie Armstrong, and Carly Schoudel.
  • After the ceremony, the Maroons wasted little time getting on the board. Molly Kasemeyer took a pass from Lilly Blair to make it 1-0, less than one minute into play. Clair would add a goal off an assist by Emerson Foster to push the advantage to 2-0 and the lead would go to three goals when Kasemeyer scored again this time from Riley Chase.
  • After a Yellow Jacket score, Roanoke responded with a pair of Armstrong goals to make it 5-1.
  • With the score 5-2 at the mid-way point of the opening half, RC exploded for six unanswered goals to pull away, 11-2. Armstrong and Kuczo had a pair to go with scores by Kasemeyer and Blair.
  • The Maroons would add four more first half scores to make it 15-4 at the break.
  • The second half would see Roanoke take their time and use as much of the shot clock on each possession as they could after Foster opened the second half scoring.
  • Three straight by the yellow Jackets would get the Maroons attention as Kuczo scored her fourth of the afternoon to push the lead back to 10.
  • Blair, Foster, and Kuczo would each add one more score as the Maroons cruised to the 20-8 ODAC victory.
  • Kuczo led all scorers with five goals while Kasemeyer, Blair, and Armstrong each scored four times. Blair and Armstrong would combine for six of the Maroon's 10 assists and in goal, Schoudel picked up the win and made nine saves on the afternoon.
