The Lead: A Jillian Barnard goal in the first-half propelled Roanoke to a 1-0 win over Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.

How it Happened:

  • The lone goal of the match came in the 31st minute when Lucy Perry sent a pass to Jillian Barnard who was able to connect for the only goal RC would need.
  • The Maroons defense made the goal stand up as they only allowed three shots on the day.  Goalkeeper Chris Martin did not have to make a save in registering the shutout.
  • RC held a 20-3 edge in shots and 3-1 on corner kicks.
  • EMU keeper Leah Wenger made eight saves to keep the Royals within striking distance.
