The Lead: The Roanoke Women's Soccer team picked up a hard fought 2-1 road win at Pfeiffer on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

  • The Maroons took the early lead when Lucy Perry struck for an unassisted goal off a free kick from 20 yards away at the 10:25 mark of the first half.
  • Pfeiffer would be awarded a penalty shot in the 35th minute. The PK attempt would hit off the cross bar but Mackenzie Pruitt collected the rebound and scored to even the match at 1-1.
  • The match would stay deadlocked at 1-1 until the 83rd minute when Emma Woods scored on kick from 30 yards away to give RC the 2-1 lead and eventually the win.
  • Chris Martin made eight saves on the day for the Maroons, including five in the decisive second-half of play. Kaley Hyatt made three stops on the day for Pfeiffer.
  • Pfeiffer held a 13-11 advantage in shots on day and led 6-1 on corner kicks.

Up Next: Roanoke will be in ODAC action on Tuesday afternoon when it heads to Bridgewater for a 4:00 p.m. match.
