With the spring season quickly approaching, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference has released is 2023 ODAC Preseason Women's Tennis Poll with the Roanoke women's tennis team picked to finish 8th out of the 12 conference teams with 62 points.
The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2022 Academic All State teams on Thursday morning. Six Maroons were honored for not only their athletic accomplishments, but for their academic success. Four of the six carry a 4.00 Grade Point Average (GPA), while the others sport a 3.974 and 3.966 gpa.
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their 2022 All Conference Women's Tennis awards on Thursday afternoon. The Roanoke College tandem of Lucy Collins and Halle Fernstrum were named 2nd team All ODAC at #1 Doubles.
On Wednesday, the Roanoke women’s tennis team traveled to top ranked Washington and Lee for the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Old Dominion athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Tennis Championships. The Maroons would come into the match short-handed, having to give the Generals #3 doubles and #6 singles. The 18th ranked Generals would sweep the remaining doubles points and when they picked up a win at #5 singles, the remainder of the matches went unfinished, Washington and Lee had eliminated the Maroons from the tournament.
The Roanoke College women's and men's tennis teams played their final home matches of the 2022 season on Saturday. Roanoke played host to Randolph College at the Elizabeth Campus Tennis Complex. Both teams would hold early leads only to see the WildCats rally to take both matches 5-4.
The Roanoke College women’s tennis team made the trip to Shenandoah to make up a match that was postponed on April 5th due to weather. The Maroons would fall behind, 3-0, after the doubles matches and the Hornets carried that momentum to sweep singles play as Roanoke fell to the Hornets, 9-0.
The Roanoke women made the trip to the eastern shore when they took on Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Marlins swept the doubles matches for a 3-0 advantage. In singles play, Roanoke was able to win at the #4 spot but fell to Virginia Wesleyan, 8-1, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
The Roanoke College men's and women's tennis teams stepped out of conference on Friday with a trip to Charlotte (N.C.) for matches with Johnson & Wales. The Maroons overwhelmed the Wildcats picking up a pair of 9-0 wins.
Roanoke hosted their cross-town rivals from Hollins at the Elizabeth Campus Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons swept the doubles matches for an early 3-0 lead. After singles play, Roanoke continued to stretch out their advantage as they picked up the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over the Green and Gold, 8-1.
The Roanoke College men’s and women’s tennis teams hosted Bridgewater College at the Elizabeth Campus Tennis Center on a cold and windy, Friday afternoon. The Eagles would lead both matches after the doubles segment and went on to win a pair over the Maroons. The Bridgewater men defeated Roanoke 6-3 while the RC women fell to the Eagles 7-2.
The Roanoke College men’s and women’s tennis teams hosted Centre College on Monday afternoon. The Colonels swept both matches by identical 9-0 scores over the Maroons in non-conference play.
