Salem, VA --- The Roanoke College volleyball team has jumped out to a great start in the 2008 season. The squad currently boasts a 13-2 record that includes high profile victories over Maryville (TN), Greensboro, and ODAC foe Bridgewater.
The Maroons are currently ranked 48 out of 50 ranked teams in the NCAA Division III and second in the ODAC in assists per set at 10.77. Freshman
Kate Feldman has had much to do with that standing, currently occupying the 47th spot in the NCAA rankings with an average of 9.39 assists per game.
Roanoke also stands 21st out of 50 ranked teams in kills per set with an average of 9.39 and sits atop the ODAC offensively with a total of 611 kills, averaging 11.98 per game. Contributing to this success is transfer
Maggie Wagner who leads the team with 154 kills and freshman
Kelsey Largen with 149. Wagner and Largen are amongst the ODAC's finest as they rank third and fourth respectively in kills. Co-captain
Marcy Conner is also a threat at the net by leading the team in blocks (28) and in hitting percentage (.315). Conner has 112 kills on the season.
Roanoke looks to continue their success as they travel to Va. Beach to face ODAC rival Va. Wesleyan and North Greenville University on Saturday. The Maroons lead the series 5-2. Game times are scheduled for 3pm and 5pm.
