The Lead: The Maroons defeated Hollins in straight sets Tuesday evening in Roanoke.
How it Happened:
- Logan Graves recorded a game-high 10 kills followed by Alex Wolfe with nine. Christen Zammit had 29 assists and Kylah Blackmore had 17 digs.
- In set one, Roanoke used a 6-1 run capped by an ace from Graves to take an early 8-2 lead. RC went on to win five consecutive points beginning at the 12-8 mark to take a 16-8 edge and control of the set.
- With the score 12-12 in the second set, RC won the next five points highlighted by a kill from Blackmore and an ace from Sydney Daniel to make it 17-12 Roanoke.
- Graves sparked a 7-1 run in the third set to give the Maroons a 14-9 advantage. Back-to-back kills from Meagan Smith and Alyssa Moorman closed the set and secured the win.
- Hollins was led by Brie Faircloth with seven kills and 14 digs and Sarah Freeman with 11 assists.
