Salem, Va. – The Roanoke College Volleyball team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Preseason Poll.

RC is coming off a season in which it went 17-10 overall and 8-4 in the ODAC. Back in the mix for Maroon Head Coach Blair Trail is All-American Linsey Bailey.

Bailey earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and All-South Region recognition in 2018 after being named the ODAC's Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection. Bailey led the ODAC in kills (418) and kills per set (4.45). Her .255 hitting percentage ranked ninth best in the ODAC, and defensively she posted 339 digs and 3.61 digs per set, which both ranked 14th in the league. A three-time ODAC Player of the Week, Bailey had double-digit kills in all but two of the 27 matches this season. She had 18 double-doubles on the year and 20 or more kills on six different occasions.

Washington and Lee University sits perched atop the annual survey for the second straight year, earning eight first place votes on the way to 139 points to edge Randolph-Macon College by four markers. The Yellow Jackets picked up four top nods on the way to 135 tallies.

The next three positions are separated by just 13 points with Bridgewater College securing third place with 116 points including the remaining first place consideration. Virginia Wesleyan University ranks fourth with 109 tallies, and Roanoke College owns fifth with 103 points.

Roanoke opens the season on Oct. 30 at the Cougar Classic at Averett University.
