Roanoke swept Ferrum before falling to RMC

The Basics:

Score: Roanoke 3 | Ferrum 0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-26)
Records: Maroons 12-9, 5-4 ODAC | Panthers 4-17, 0-10 ODAC
Location: Ferrum, Va.

The Lead: Roanoke traveled to Ferrum to play in an ODAC tri-match with the Panthers and, top ranked, Randolph-Macon. The Maroons recorded their fourth straight, 3-0, win in the opener before falling to the Yellow Jackets in the afternoon.

How it happened:

  • The Panthers would score the first two points and five of the first seven to take an early edge. However, RC would storm back, taking six straight to grab the momentum. 15 kills later the Maroons would take a 1-0 lead.
  • Ferrum once again enjoyed an early advantage, 8-4, before a Roanoke rally would see the game tied at 10-10. The Panthers once again went on a run, 4-0, but after back-to-back Logan Pasley kills, the set was knotted for the sixth time. Kennedy Clemmer would have a pair of service aces to highlight a 7-0 Maroon run that would put the set away.
  • A 7-2 Roanoke explosion would give the visitors a big lead and after Linsey Bailey registered her 19th kill, RC would notch their fourth straight win by the score of 3-0.
  • Telia Harris (10) would join Bailey with double digit kills. Pasley handed out 22 helpers while Olivia Newman would record 13 assists.
  • Parker Moody had seven kills and a solo block with Clemmer adding 13 digs to her two service aces.

Up next: Ronaoke will stay on the court as they played the Yellow Jackets in Schwartz Gymnasium.

The Basics:

Score: Roanoke 0 | Randolph-Macon 3 (14-25, 17-25, 19-25)
Records: Maroons 12-10, 5-5 ODAC | Yellow Jackets 18-4, 9-0 ODAC
Location: Ferrum, Va.

How it happened:

  • Randolph-Macon would take advantage of a weary RC squad, out-hitting the Maroons 15-7, in the opening set. After opening the match 10-4, RMC closed out the first set by taking six of the final eight points.
  • With nine of the first 12 points, including five in a row, the Yellow Jackets would race out to a big second set edge. However, the Maroons would rally to cut the deficit to four, thanks to 10 kills, but Macon would regain the momentum and close out RC for the 2-0 lead.
  • The third set was close, 12-12 in kills, but five Roanoke hitting errors and four serving miscues were too much to overcome as RMC wrapped up their ninth ODAC win of the season.
  • Harris had seven kills with Bailey adding six and Moody five. Harris and Angel Ross would combine for two of the Maroons three blocks.
  • Pasley led with 14 assists and Clemmer had a team high with eight digs.

Up next: Roanoke will travel to Atlanta next weekend for three matches at the Emory University Invitational.
