The Lead: Roanoke used a two-run seventh inning to get past Lynchburg in a Tuesday afternoon ODAC contest.
How it Happened:
- Lynchburg scored early in the bottom of the first after a Matt Ward double scored Joe Tomasulo giving LC the early 1-0 edge.
- There would be no scoring for either teams until the sixth inning. In the top of the sixth with the bases loaded, Collier Donald would force a walk to score Clark Crutchfield tying up the game at 1-1.
- The Hornets would respond in the bottom of the sixth inning scratching across one run to give LC the 2-1 lead.
- With one out in the top of the seventh, Anthony Teixeira doubled to left field. Later in the inning with two outs, Will Decker doubled to score Teixeira and in the next at bat Crutchfield also doubled to score Decker giving Roanoke the 3-2 advantage and eventual outcome.
- Crutchfield led the Maroons at the plate going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Teixeira reached base four times for Roanoke going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and walking twice while also stealing one base.
- Harrison Richards improved to 4-2 on the mound after throwing eight innings while striking out five and only giving up two runs. Eli Sumpter collected his fourth save of the year throwing a scoreless ninth inning.
