The Lead: Roanoke sits in fourth place after day one f the 10 team, Hill City Invitational. The Maroons are three shots back of the host Hornets and hold a two shot advantage over Bluefield College.
How it Happened:
- The field would feature two of the top 25 teams in the nation. Averett (22nd) holds a three stroke edge over Methodist (13th) atop the team leaderboard.
- Freshman Will Clary (79) posted a two under par 34 on the back nine to find himself a tie for 7th in the 55 golfer field.
- One shot back of Clary is senior Nicholas Peters (80). Peters sits in a tie for 10th heading into day two.
- Rounding out the scoring for the Maroons is freshman Cameron Dillon and junior Evan Diebus. The duo would each post a nine over 81 giving RC four golfers in the top 20 of the leaderboard.
- Of the five ODAC schools in the field, Roanoke is second to only their hosts from Lynchburg and ahead of E&H (333), Randolph-Macon (344), and Eastern Mennonite (368).
Up next: The Maroons will tee off tomorrow morning in the second day of the Tournament.
