Maroons Land League High Eight On All Conference Teams

Eight RC players earned All Conference honors

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released their 2019 All ODAC Teams on Thursday afternoon. The news comes as the Maroons are preparing for their first round matchup with Swarthmore in the NCAA DIII Men's Soccer Tournament. RC would match Washington and Lee with eight players being recognized on the three All ODAC teams.

Tim Leuenberger earned first team honors a season after being selected to the All ODAC second team. The sophomore defender was the lone RC player to make the first team after finishing the season with six goals, two assists, and a pair of game winning goals. His six goals ranked 12th in the final conference standings and he helped to anchor a Roanoke defense that led the ODAC with a .61 goals against average and tied for the ODAC lead with 11 shutouts.

Sophomore keeper Zach Behe and first-year midfielder Dylan Berk were named to the All ODAC second team. Behe finished the season with a league leading save percentage of .836 while making 56 stops, fifth highest in the league. His goals against average ranked second, giving up just 11 scores (third in the ODAC). In his first season, Berk scored four goals to go with three assists while sending 76.2% of his shots on goal. 

Roanoke would place five players on the all conference third team. Liam Camilleri was the only repeat honoree, having been named All ODAC third team after the 2018 season. Camilleri would end his sophomore season as the league's ninth leading goal scorer with nine and with his four helpers, Liam was also ninth in the conference with 18 total points. On offense, Isaac Wolf and Alec Taitague were also named all conference. Wolf was tied with Leuenberger as the teams second leading scorer with six goals. With four assists, Isaac finished in the top 15 leaguewide with 16 total points. Taitague scored twice with an assist and his game winning goal against Maryville helped the Maroons start with season with a 14 game unbeaten streak. Two other members of Roanoke's top rated defense earned third team designation. Junior Joe Carman and second-year defender Chris Jerrild rounded out the group of eight all conference performers. Carman and Jerrild each played and started all 19 games for RC and during their eight conference matches, helped the Roanoke defense to a league leading five shutouts.
