Roanoke College Director of Athletics Scott Allison announced in July of 2016 the appointment of Jake Morris as the Maroons Head Men's Tennis Coach.

No stranger to the Maroon program, Morris capped a successful career on the court for RC in May and will now transition to the coaching ranks. A four-year letter winner and a two-time captain of the Maroons, Morris graduated with a degree in sports management from RC in May.

"As a recent graduate of Roanoke College, Jake knows our tennis program and our institution so well," said Allison. "In these past two years, Jake emerged as the team's leader, both on and off the court.   He's mature beyond his years.  We're pleased to welcome Jake to our staff."

Morris saw significant time on the court during his four years in Salem. He racked up 36 doubles wins for his career to go along with 29 victories as a singles competitor.

"I am honored to be named the Head Coach of the Men's Tennis program at Roanoke College," said Morris. "I want to thank, President Maxey, Dean Fetrow and Coach Allison very much for giving me this tremendous opportunity. After enjoying my four years at Roanoke College, I feel fortunate to be able to continue to be a part of the College, local, and athletic community. I am looking forward to working hard to become the best coach that I can be and to help provide a positive experience for our tennis student-athletes so that they can be successful in the classroom, on the court, in the community, and in their future careers. I am very excited to begin our fall season in a few weeks."

As a junior, Morris and Matt Kessler were named Second-Team All-ODAC at No. 1 doubles. That same season, Morris was named to the ODAC Sportsmanship team, the ODAC All-Academic Team and the RC Student-Athlete Honor Roll.

Morris was also a member of the Roanoke College Captain's Council and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
