The Basics
Event: Noke Elite Meet
Location: Salem, Va.
The Lead: For the final time this regular season, the Roanoke College track and field team would host a meet in the Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse.
Women's Highlights:
- The Roanoke women placed 3rd out of seven teams with 103 points. Washington and Lee topped the field with Carnegie Mellon finishing 2nd.
- In the Long Jump, Hannah Koepfinger earned RC's first top five of the meet with a final distance of 15'8.25".
- Jayna Jean-Jules continued her string of top five finishes with a 3rd in the Weight throw (48'0.50")
- At 10'6", Chloe Van Duyne finished in a 2nd place tie while Lindsey Baxter earned 4th place points.
- The women earned their first win of the meet with a 1st place effort in the 4x200 Relay. Lily Lippert, Claire Aurand, Emily Ball, and Alison Moreau won by seven seconds with a time of 1:47.62.
- The quartet of Lauren Brown, Eliza Ryan, Hailey Draper, and Emma Maras finished runner up by just over eight seconds in the 4000 Distance Medley Relay (DMR).
- Hannah Snodgrass finished 5th in the 60M Hurdles while Brooke Ryman picked up 3rd place points with 33'5.25" in the Triple Jump. Samantha Hampton posted a final distance of 37'4.50" to finish runner-up in the Shot Put.
- Aurand was the only woman to best eight seconds with a 7.98 finish in the 60M. That run came on the heels of posting a 7.92 in the prelims.
- Lippert came home 3rd in the 400M (1:02.46) while Ball just out-kicked Ryan for 5th.
Men's Highlights:
- The Roanoke men placed 5th out of an eight team field with 59 points. Carnegie Mellon took the team title with Washington and Lee finishing runner-up.
- Kaleb Bland out-threw Kyle Bland in the Weight Throw. Kaleb earned 3rd place points with a distance of 46'9" while Kyle finished 4th with 46'4.25".
- The men paced the field in the 4x200 Relay. Troy Crawley, Blake Morin, Brandon Justice, and Xavier O'Brien hit the tape in 1:33.10, good enough for over a three second win.
- O'Brien would return to finish runner-up in the 60M Hurdles. The junior finished just behind Matt Clark of Piedmont in 8.60 seconds.
- The 60M would see Crawley (7.22) finish just ahead of O'Brien (7.39).
- Sam Crawford missed a top five by .34 of a second in the 400 Meters. Crawford would come back later in the event to claim the 200 Meter title with a time of 22.93. Morin added a 4th place effort in 23.78.
Up next: Next weekend the RC men and women will travel to Lexington to compete in the VMI Indoor classic.
