Eugene Galloway

Eugene Galloway enters his eighth season with the Roanoke College Track and Field program and in the summer of 2020 was named Head Coach of the program. Galloway directs practices for the men’s and women’s sprinters, hurdlers, and multi’s as well as a variety of administrative and recruiting duties throughout the year.

This past season Galloway was awarded the 2022 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Women’s Coach of the Year, while Elisabeth Cullen was named ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Women’s Rookie of the Year.

During his first seven years with the program, Galloway has guided two NCAA DIII Runner-ups, eight NCAA DIII All-Americans, 15 NCAA National Qualifiers, 31 school records, two ODAC records, 32 Individual ODAC Champions, 133 All-ODAC Performers, 85 All-South/Southeast Region honorees, and two ODAC Conference Rookie of the Year recipients. He was also on the coaching staff of the 2015 Women’s Outdoor ODAC Track & Field Champions.

Galloway comes to Roanoke from Winston-Salem, NC, where he served as assistant coach for two seasons at the high school level and four years at Momentum Personal Training. At Reynolds High School and Bishop McGuiness, he helped coach numerous athletes to All State honors. During his time at MPT, he worked with many high school athletes, 15 of whom earned athletic college scholarships and one athlete that became a High School All-American in the Men’s Triple Jump.

An outstanding student at High Point University, Galloway was a Big South Presidential Scholar three consecutive years. As an athlete, he was one the finest jumpers to ever compete for the Panthers. Twice Galloway won the Big South Indoor and Outdoor Triple Jump and also qualified for the NCAA Division I East Regional. He was also selected as a member of the 2000-2009 All Big South Decade Team. A well-respected leader on the track & field squad, the Winston-Salem native served as Vice-President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during his college days. 

Galloway graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications in May of 2007 from High Point University and in 2009, also earned a master’s of science in sports studies from his alm mater.  

Coach Galloway is a member of the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association.  He holds certifications as a USTFCCCA Sprints, Hurdles, and Relay Specialists, Jumps Specialist, Combined Events specialist, Track and Field Technical Coaching, and a Master Endorsement of Strength and Conditioning Certification. 

He currently resides in Salem with his wife, Kellie and their daughter Evelyn.
