The Lead: A second-half goal by Jillian Barnard proved to the game-winner as Roanoke topped Shenandoah 1-0 in women's soccer.

How it Happened

  • The first-half featured just a combined three shots between the teams and one corner kick for Roanoke.
  • In the 69th minute, SU had a chance to go on top but Dornesha Cottoms hit the post then Abbie Marquette had a shot stopped by RC keeper Chris Martin less than a minute later.
  • Barnard would score what proved to be the lone goal of the game in the 77th minute of action.
  • Martin made the goal stand up as she made a save on an Abby Alexa shot just a minute after Barnard's score.
  • Shenandoah held a 7-4 edge in shots and Roanoke led 4-1 in corner kicks.
  • Martin finished with three saves for the Maroons.
