Collinson completed her Roanoke College women's lacrosse career with 273 points, a number that was then the second best in team history. She scored 175 career goals and added 98 assists. At the time her goal total was second all-time, as were her 98 career assists. In 1988, as a freshman, Collinson finished third on the team in goals scored with 30, and helped the Maroons to their first ever NCAA postseason appearance. Her goal total increased to 38 as a sophomore , as the Maroons went 11-7 and 8-2 in league play. The next year, behind a career-high 60 goals from Collinson, the Maroons advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA tournament and finished the season with an 18-1 record.

That year, the Maroons climbed as high as number-three in the country, staying there for five consecutive weeks. Following her outstanding junior season, Collinson was honored as a First Team All-American. Again, in 1991, Collinson was selected to the First Team All-American squad, posting 47 goals and 37 assists and leading the team to a berth in the NCAA national postseason. Following her final season in Salem, Collinson was named the Co-ODAC Player of the Year after leading the Maroons to their second consecutive league title. In her career, Collinson was a member of three ODAC championship teams.
