A star in both baseball and basketball at Roanoke. Captained the Maroon basketball team during his senior year and ranked second nationally among College Division players in assists. Was considered one of the best defensive players and playmakers in Roanoke basketball history.
Was honored as Coach of the Year Northern District in 1959, 1963 and 1966 in his high school basketball coaching career.
