The fifth all-time leading scorer in Roanoke men's lacrosse history, Smith completed his college playing career with 199 points on 142 goals and 57 assists. Twice (in 1991 and 1993) Smith led the Maroons in goals scored in a season and three times (1991, 1993, and 1994) was the team's overall points leader. In addition to leading the team in goals in 1994, he was also the overall assists leader that season.
His 56 goals during the 1993 season remains a college record, as does his 10-goal performance in a 1993 victory over Whittier College. Smith earned First Team All-ODAC honors three times during his career, garnering the honors following the 1991, 1993, and 1994 seasons. Upon the completion of his junior and senior seasons, Smith was named to the All-American squad.
