Junior pitcher Chris Caputo was named ESPN the Magazine Second-Team Academic All-District in baseball announced this week. It is the first time in his career that he has garnered the honor.

 

Caputo, from Dunwoody, Ga. went 3-2 in his third year with the Maroons along with 21 strikeouts in 11 appearances, making six starts. He pitched 37 innings along with six starts and was a main factor in the combined shutout victory over UM-Presque Isle (2/17). He closed his only game of the year, earning the save against Emory & Henry (3/24). In a complete game win over Frostburg St., Caputo had a season-best five strikeouts (2/20).

 

The Dunwoody High School product ranks among the best at Roanoke in wins (4^th), saves (4^th), innings pitched (7^th) and strikeouts (6^th). The Maroons finished 10-21, 5-13 in the ODAC this season.
