Roanoke swept by Randolph-Macon in ODAC Doubleheader Action
ASHLAND, Va. --- Roanoke baseball's chance for an ODAC Tournament bid ended with a sweep handed by Randolph-Macon Thursday afternoon, 8-2 and 16-1. The Maroons dropped to 9-20 overall and 4-12 in the ODAC. The Yellow Jackets improved to 15-17, 10-6 in the conference.
 
Barrett Henderson (1-4) picked up the loss in game one for the Maroons, allowing eight runs off 12 hits in 4.1 innings. Joseph Peery came in relief to strike out two with no runs in the final 1.2 innings pitched.
 
Jay Laramore and Patrick Collins had the only two hits for the Maroons, as Chris Zachodzki and Graham Thacker scored for Roanoke. Laramore added an RBI in the losing effort.
 
The Yellow Jackets reeled off 20 hits and 16 runs in a 16-1 game two victory. Joseph Johannes (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up seven runs and three walks in only two innings.  
 
The only bright spot on the mound for the Maroons was Jani Kamphuis, who pitched the final three innings, striking out three.
 
Laramore led Roanoke, going 2-for-2 with two doubles and a run scored. Chris Boylan had an RBI-single which was the only run of the game for the Maroons.
 
The Maroons will host Hampden-Sydney in the final day of the season Saturday, April 18 starting at noon. It will be the final game for seniors Lance Firebaugh and Chris Zachodzki, who will be recognized before the first pitch.
