Baseball Falls to Shenandoah 13-1

SALEM, Va. --- The Roanoke College baseball team lost to Shenandoah, 13-1 on Monday afternoon at the Salem Memorial/Lewis Gale Medical Center Field. The Maroons dropped to 5-7 on the season and are now 0-3 against the Hornets all-time. 

Shenandoah started off strong by scoring three runs in the first inning and four in the third inning for a 7-0 lead. The Maroons held off the scoring barrage for the next two innings before allowing three additional runs in the sixth and seventh inning.
 
Graham Thacker doubled in the sixth inning followed by a sacrifice hit from junior Alan Moore to score the Maroons lone run of the game. Thacker collected two hits in the contest along with Noah Davidson who went 2-for-3 with a double.  
 
The Hornets had 16 hits including doubles from Scott Van Dusseldorp and Greg Van Sickler. Scott Lambert went 3-for-3 to lead Shenandoah while six of his teammates recorded two hits in the game.
 
Eric Rabung (4-0) struck out five batters and gave up six hits in his fourth consecutive win as a Hornet.
 
Brad Greenway (0-1) started on the mound for the Maroons and in three innings of play he struck out three batters. Greenway was credited with the loss, his first of the season. Joseph Johannes also saw time on the hill, striking out one in the defeat.
 
The Maroons will play Milligan for the second time this season on Tuesday, Mar. 10 at Salem Memorial Field. The Buffaloes hold a 2-0 series advantage against Roanoke including a 10-4 victory on Feb. 9. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
