Seven-Run Ninth Seals  an 18-12 win at Guilford
GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Roanoke got a big road win in an 18-12 triumph over Guilford on Tuesday afternoon. The Maroons improved to 8-10 overall, 4-4 in the ODAC. The Quakers dropped to 10-13, 3-6 in conference play.
 
Down to their final out with the score, 12-11 in the bottom of the ninth, Roanoke scored seven runs in the two-out rally and held on to sweep Guilford for the first time since the 2008 season. The series is now even at 9-9 against the Quakers, with five of the last seven going the Maroons' way.
 
The Maroons tied a school-record with 23 hits and total runs scored (30) while the 48 at-bats were the third-most in school history. The 18 RBI were one shy of tying the school-record while the 18 runs were the most scored since the 2007 season. This win puts the program five wins shy of #100 in its nine-year history.
 
Roanoke scored eight runs in the first two innings and took a commanding 8-0 lead. Alan Moore (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)two-run blast in the first and two-RBI single in the second highlighted the game early on. But Guilford rallied back, scoring seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make the score, 9-7. 
 
Moore's heroics continued in the top of the eighth with another two-RBI single to give the Maroons a four-run lead. The Quakers responded in the bottom half with a five-run inning to grab their first lead of the game, 12-11.
 
Down to their last out with a 1-2 count in the top of the ninth, Jay Laramore (Pfafftown, NC, Guilford)doubled to left field to drive in the eventual game-winning run and sparked the big inning. Barrett Henderson (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spirng)hit a three-RBI double to left field later in the inning to continue the two-out rally. Cameron Travalini (Millville, DE, Indian River)two-RBI single capped the inning.
 
Moore led all hitters, going 4-for-5 with a double and his second home run of the season. He drove in a school-record seven RBI tied a career-high with three runs. Travalini went 4-for-7 with three runs and two RBI. The seven at-bats tied a single-game record at Roanoke.
 
Graham Thacker (Forest, VA, Jefferson Forest)finished 3-for-6 with three runs and two RBI. Noah Davidson (Salem, VA, Salem)went 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI. Laramoreand Henderson had a single, a double, a run and three RBI each. Caylen Baire (St. Albans, WV, St. Albans)was 2-for-3 with two runs and tied a school-record with three walks.
 
Mark Manthe (Blacksburg, VA, Blacksburg)started on the mound, allowing two runs and scattered five hits in five innings of work. He gave up only one walk while striking out two. He helped his cause by collecting two hits in the contest. Mark Wimmer (Salem, VA, Salem)(2-0) earned the win in relief, going 3.2 innings and struck out four batters.
 
The men will return to action tomorrow as they host Averett University in non-conference action. The Maroons are 1-7 against the Cougars and dropped a doubleheader in Danville, VA in Roanoke's season-opener. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Kiwanis Field.
