Baseball Swept by EMU in Season Finale
SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke's season came to a close on Saturday as the Maroons were swept by Eastern Mennonite at Kiwanis Field. The Maroons end their season with an 11-20 record, 6-12 in the ODAC. The Royals finished 11-17 overall, 6-12 in the conference.

The Maroons fell 18-7 in game one, which ended any chance of them advancing to their second-ever ODAC Tournament appearance. Washington & Lee got swept by Virginia Wesleyan to help the Maroons cause, but Roanoke couldn't seal the deal as they fell on Senior Day.

The Maroons were down by 13 in the fifth inning before Alan Moore (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)three-run homer to left cut it to, 14-4. The Royals added four more runs in the next two innings before Roanoke scored three more in its last at bat to give the final result.

Moore finished 3-for-3 with four RBI to lead Roanoke. Noah Davidson (Salem, VA, Salem)went 2-for-3 with two runs and a double. Graham Thacker (Forest, VA, Jefferson Forest)had a single and crossed the plate twice for the Maroons.

Cody Kidd (Salem, VA, Glenvar)took the loss, giving up six runs in 1.2 innings. Michael Haslam (Collegeville, PA, Springfield)struck out three batters in 1.2 innings of relief without allowing a run.

In game two, Roanoke had a 2-1 lead briefly before a six-run fourth and back-to-back three run innings late completed the sweep, 13-8.

Thacker went 3-for-5 in his final collegiate game with two RBI. Davidson also went 3-for-5 in his final game with two runs. C.J. Poad (Clinton, MD, Riverdale Baptist)and Moore both finished 2-for-4 as Moore drove in three runs and scored twice in his final game as a Maroon.

Moore and Thacker hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth in the final at bat of their career. It was a fitting end for the time and dedication they have put into the Maroons baseball program over the last four years, as of the rest of the nine players from the 2010 senior class.

Moore capped his career as arguably the most complete player in program-history. He holds school-records in batting (.397), slugging percentage (.646), on base percentage (.460), runs scored (92), hits (177), doubles (49), home runs (18), RBI's (98) and total bases (288). He was one game shy of holding the record with 125 career games played.

Thacker finished among the top-10 all-time at Roanoke in batting (3rd), games played (5th), started (5th), at bats (4th), runs scored (6th), hits (3rd), doubles (3rd), RBI's (4th), total bases (3rd) and stolen bases (2nd).

Davidson ended his career with the walks record (55) and ranks among the best at Roanoke in runs scored (2nd), hits (6th), doubles (6th), batting (6th), on base percentage (3rd) and at bats (6th).
