Moore, Laramore Earn All-ODAC Honors in Baseball
Seniors Alan Moore (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)and Jay Laramore (Pfafftown, NC, Guilford)earned All-ODAC honors in baseball announced this afternoon. It is the second time in the nine-year history of the modern era that there has been multiple selections for Roanoke.

Moore, a transfer from Div. II Tusculum in 2007, is the first Maroon player to earn All-ODAC honors twice in a career. The third baseman was ranked among the ODAC leaders in batting (3rd), total bases (5th), home runs (T-3rd), doubles (T-6th), RBI's (8th), on base percentage (4th) and slugging percentage (3rd). He continued to etch his way in the Roanoke record books, as he set new single-season marks in batting (.458), slugging percentage (.822), on base percentage (.525), home runs (8), total bases (88) and was one RBI shy of tying the school-record with 34. He also holds the doubles record (17) which he set as a freshman.

In the career records, Moore owns school-records in batting (.397), slugging percentage (.646), on base percentage(.460), runs scored (92), hits (177), doubles (49), home runs (18), RBI's (98) and total bases (288). He finished second all-time in walks (43), at bats (446), games started (120) and was one game shy of tying the school-record with 125 games played. In his final collegiate at bat, he gave himself a Ted Williams' send off, hitting a home run to end his storied career as arguably the best player in the modern-era of the baseball program.

Laramore, who transferred after two seasons with ODAC-foe Guilford in the fall of 2008, stepped into a pleasant situation for the Maroons. He was a pitcher for the Quakers before transitioning himself into a power-hitter and a first baseman by the end of his two-year career at Roanoke.  He batted .293 with three home runs and 19 RBI's. For his career, he started in all 58 games with a .330 career batting average. In 207 career at bats, he totaled 64 hits, 38 runs, 18 doubles, seven home runs and 41 RBI.

In 31 starts and 116 at bats, the designated hitter/first baseman scored 22 times with 34 hits, along with 54 total bases and nine doubles this spring. In his first season in the infield, Laramore made only one error in 250 chances with 228 putouts. His 21 assists resulted in 16 double plays this season, while his glove and quick tags earned nine pick-offs from first base in 2010.

The Maroons finished 11-20 overall with a 6-12 mark in ODAC play. They were 3-1 at neutral sites and entering the final day of the season were in the hunt for earning a ODAC Tournament spot for only the second time in school-history.
