Baseball Games vs. Ferrum have been Re-Scheduled
SALEM, Va. -- The non-conference baseball game between Roanoke and Ferrum has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8, on the campus of Ferrum College. Field conditions in Salem are being cited for the change of venue.

The game will now be played at Ferrum's Panther Field at 3 p.m. The game between the two schools scheduled for Feb. 16 at Ferrum, will be moved to Salem and will also be played at 3 p.m.

Ferrum is currently 1-0 after opening with a 2-0 shutout over non-conference opponent Hampden-Sydney College Feb. 6 on the road. The Panthers went 25-13 last season under Coach Darren Hodges, now in his third year at the helm of the Panther baseball program.

The Maroons, picked ninth in the ODAC pre-season poll, lost their top-seven batting leaders and have only two seniors on the roster. Of their six juniors, three are transfers beginning their first year with the program. Roanoke will rely upon new faces across the diamond. Mark Manthe (Blacksburg, VA, Blacksburg) (.263) is the top returning bat, while the pitching staff will look for Michael Haslam (Collegeville, PA, Springfield) (1-3, 27 K) and John Terlesky (Charlottesville, VA , Albermarle) (2-0, 30 K) to take over the reins.

Their first game of the season is now scheduled for Monday, Feb. 14 as they take on Southern Virginia in non-NCAA action. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Kiwanis Field.
