Roanoke Drops Double-Header at Randolph-Macon Saturday
ASHLAND, Va--- Roanoke fell to Randolph-Macon, 10-1 and 8-1 Saturday afternoon at Estes Park. The Maroons dropped to 6-8, 0-2 in the conference play, while the Yellow-Jackets improved to 8-5, 4-0 in ODAC action.

R-MC jumped out to an early lead in the opening game and never looked back. Brian Jordan led off the bottom of the first with a double, he later scored on a passed ball. The Yellow Jackets added two more runs in the third inning off rbi-doubles from Greg Mitro and Jordan Walton. 

The Maroons got on the board in the fourth off a Mark Manthe (Blacksburg, VA, Blacksburg) homerun that cut the lead to 3-1. Manthe's solo shot was his team-high third of the year and one of just three hits in the first contest for Roanoke. Randolph-Macon then opened things up in the bottom half of the eighth scoring eight runs off five hits and one error. They got back-to-back rbi-doubles from Walton and Jay Lichter that put the game away.

Michael Haslam (Collegeville, PA, Springfield) took the loss on the mound for the Maroons, allowing seven earned runs in 7 2/3 innings pitched, while striking out seven. Jamie Hendrick picked up the victory for R-MC on the hill, tossing seven innings of two-hit ball, while allowing just one run and striking out three. James Bierlein threw two scoreless innings to pick up his third save of the year.

In the late game, a three-run third inning led Randolph-Macon to victory. Mitro and Jeb Weyworth hit both led the inning off with doubles before Walton finished the inning with a two-run homerun. The Yellow-Jackets added two runs in the fifth off a Corey Jackson double to make it 5-0.

Roanoke got on the board in the top of the eighth when Benjamin Amos (Vinton, VA, William Byrd) singled in Dalton Lipes (Buchanan, VA, James River).   R-MC tacked on three more runs in the bottom half of the eighth off three hits and an error to give the final score of 8-1.

John Terlesky (Charlottesville, VA , Albermarle)
registered the loss for the Maroons, allowing five earned runs in five innings, while striking out four. Michael Helbig picked up the win for the Yellow Jackets, throwing seven scoreless innings, while allowing just three hits and striking out five.

Robbie Scott (Mt. Kisco, NY, Fox Lane)
and Amos led Roanoke with two hits each in the second game. 

The Maroons return to action Wednesday March 8th as they host Greensboro College. The game is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start.
