Baseball Defeats Maine-Farmington, 13-3 in Non-Conference Action
SALEM, Va. --- Six Maroons had multi-hit games as Roanoke ran away with a 13-3 win over Maine-Farmington in non-conference action at Kiwanis Field. RC improved to 8-11 on the year, while the Beavers dropped their first game of the season.
 
Mark Manthe (Blacksburg, VA, Blacksburg) (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, striking out eight batters while allowing one run. He helped his cause at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Maroons. 
 
Ryan Farmer came in relief for two innings, striking out three batters. Mark Wimmer (Salem, VA, Salem) threw the ninth inning and struck out one to close the game.
 
Connor Murphy had two doubles and three RBI as Robbie Scott (Mt. Kisco, NY, Fox Lane) finished with two hits, including a double, three runs and two RBI. Jacob McMillan (Vinton, VA, William Byrd)Nick Sburlati (Blacksburg, VA, Blacksburg) and Jeremy Seipp (Arlington, VA, Washington-Lee) collected two hits each. Dalton Lipes scored three runs with a single and drew three walks.
 
The men return to Kiwanis Field on Saturday, March 19 as they take on ODAC-foe Virginia Wesleyan. Game time for the twin bill starts at noon.
